I laughed so hard at some points that I had to put the book down to get myself together.
Hilarious, I never read an Epic Fantasy this fun. I think I really liked how it was told after their glory days and when they bend over they crack and make noises just liked I do. Each character has a strong back story and each character you learn so much about that you can feel a bond with them also. You get a sense of true friendship between these men and how far they will go for each other even if they haven’t been as close in the last 20+ years. You really get such a wonderful world build and character development. I can’t even put into words how amazing the idea of this was. The entire cast of side band are just as awesome as the main band Saga. Like a reunion tour, if you are thinking rock bands you are not that far off, I do believe a lot of the bands in this book are suppose to resemble rock bands. One of the band mates wants to get the band back together to help him save his daughter. The world is true fantasy with monsters, elves, mythical creatures and some really weird one. The story follows Saga and is told in one of the band members POV which I thought was really well done since Clay Copper was so likable and hilarious.
The story is an epic fantasy that follow a band of mercenaries that have long since retired. I don’t reread but I could 100% read this again. I want to watch this book, it would make one hell of a movie or a series. I loved the characters, the story, the side characters, the fight scenes and even the world. It was adventurous, hilarious, heartbreaking and amazing. I don’t even know where to begin, this officially became one of my ALL time favorite books. It's time to get the band back together for one last tour across the Wyld. Rescuing Rose is the kind of mission that only the very brave or the very stupid would sign up for. His daughter Rose is trapped in a city besieged by an enemy one hundred thousand strong and hungry for blood. Then an ex-bandmate turns up at Clay's door with a plea for help.
Their glory days long past, the mercs have grown apart and grown old, fat, drunk - or a combination of the three. Clay Cooper and his band were once the best of the best - the meanest, dirtiest, most feared crew of mercenaries this side of the Heartwyld.
